Subject: Stefan Martensson
Importance: High

It is my pleasure to announce that we now have a new Front Desk Supervisor!  Over the past 9 months, Adrienne has been our Supervisor, to be joined by Amanda in August when a lot of changes were taking place here at the Ridge.  As we all know, Amanda has moved on to become the Assistant Manager at the Red Earth Spa, and although she is still working one or two days per week at our Front Desk, we have a hole to fill!

Stefan came to us most recently from Panorama Mountain Village in BC.  Prior to that he spent some time in Fernie and he actually comes to us all the way from Sweden!  We knew he would be a wonderful addition to our team before we even met him in person, and after meeting him and hiring him on, we became even more confident in that.  I’m sure that most of us, if not all of us, have had the opportunity to meet Stefan since his arrival on January 28 th.  Since that time, he’s jumped right into work with a smile and a very positive attitude – keen to learn and help out.  We decided to move him into a Supervisor role sooner rather than later.  He is a confident, responsible, enthusiastic, humorous and motivated individual who will help lead our team to success!

Please join me in congratulating Stefan in his new role and welcoming him not only to Hidden Ridge but the Bow Valley in general.  We are all very happy to have him join the ‘herd’!

070211 – Thoughts and resignments

Life is full of choices and sometimes it’s impossible to satisfy all your wishes and hopes.
Sometimes unfortunately you have to choose not to do things you like to be able to do other things that intrigues you or develops you more with your career or hobbies.

I have been in this new company, Caribou Properties Ltd aka Best of Banff, this Sunday for 2weeks, and a lot of things have already developed. I feel really at home and at ease here in Banff. It is a really nice ‘herd’ of people that are making this resort happening and I get along really well with everybody.
Considering the letter I received from the General Manager of Hidden Ridge (see above) I cannot more than feel appreciated and at the same time thank all the people that made me the person I am today.

The national guard has played a large role in my life and it is with a strong feeling I recently resigned my position as second in charge for the rapid deployment platoon. Without mentioning any names I would like to send my appreciation and thanks to they who feel appointed.

I my everyday life I have met alot of exciting people that influenced my life and choices while mirroring back my ideas through many and long discussions about life. A few of these people are so important for me so I can say that without them, my life would not have looked the same as it is today. Thanks to you guys I developed personally and spiritually!

Okey, it might sound like a letter of goodbye, but it really feels like a new era of my life is starting and a permanent residence is soon quite likely a reality.

Some people will loose contact and perhaps most likely the national guard since in many cases, it’s ”out of sight, out of mind” even if the comradary while in the uniform is very strong.

I hereby extend to all friends (even those I have no email address to) a warm welcome to Banff and Canada!

If you are into outdoor activities, Banff is the place to go…  you can find almost anything here, like skiing, ice climbing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, dog sledding…  and in the summers there is hiking, mountaineering, climbing, ATV-tours, fishing, mountain biking.

So, the answer to the million dollar question; when are you coming home?
– 1September is the day I will arrive to Sweden. How long I am staying for is still uncertain. I will evaluate my present employer, town of Banff, business opportunities and so on until then and after that take a decision if I will go back for a few more years and if so, sell my condo in Sweden and purchase one here.

I probably need to mention that there are several other jobs within the gas & oil industry with six-figure incomes in Calgary, Edmonton and Fort McMurrey, so the opportunities are endless in this country.

Enough of this…
