Fall Road Trip 2008 – 11.000km Through the Western USA

Alright.. I had been away from “home” (i.e. Canada) for too long and I wanted to do a roadtrip down south (to the US) during the last fall, but it unfortunately it never happened.

Mt St Helens – Mt Rainer – Seattle – Vancouver and the road back to Bow Valley

REDWOOD STATE & NATIONAL PARK – CRATER LAKE NATIONAL PARK – COOS BAY – OREGON DUNES – PORTLAND
I am glad that I went to Sequoia National Park as well, coz Redwood State and National Parks was a bit of a disappointment. Surely the park was beautiful and the Pacific Coast Hwy offered mulitple of “Kodak Moments” but the “wow factor” was alot bigger in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks Read the rest of this entry »

GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE – ALCATRAZ – FORT POINT – PRESIDIO – NAPA VALLEY
From Yosemite it was pretty straight forward west on the highway to reach the coast again. I decided that I wanted to visit the famous (for me at least) Monterey Bay Aquarium. This was a HUGE disappointment. Read the rest of this entry »

After leaving Camp25 at the coast, I followed Pacific Coast Highway north for another hour or so, went through Ventura where a friend studied a few years ago, to see the town she lived in and how things looked around there.

Not many other cities around the world are so hyped-up as the one I just came from and the one I was driving to next. Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
I stayed at the Adventure hostel, about 35min south of Hollywood. Nice comfortable place, more like a youth hostel than anything else, big pool and nice atmosphere all around. Read the rest of this entry »

“It’s the longest stretch left of the historic Route 66, I suggest you take it!” said the old lady in the information centre. So I did!

Bryce Canyon NP – Mozquito Creek – Zion NP

After tearing up the backroads in Capitol Reef National park I ended up in Bryce Canyon National Park.
